Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible to assist in the successful operation of the Greens Bistro. The Bistro Server will provide short order cook items from the menu assures high quality food service to all customers. Must provide excellent customer to residents, families, and visitors.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Communicate clearly, quickly and politely with customers and co-workers to ensure correct order is served to the customers.
2. Be pleasant and alert to customer needs.
3. Greet guests as they enter Bistro or Pub.
4. Process customer transactions and maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout shift and be able to account for any and all discrepancies in the final drawer tally.
5. Assemble and deliver food and beverage order to customers quickly and efficiently.
6. Prepare products quickly and accurately, while following all preparation, health and safety standards and guidelines. Must either have or obtain ServeSafe II Certification.
7. Operate and maintain food/drink/treat related equipment properly and safely.
8. Complete assigned prep work for stocking and set up of work area.
9. Stock and execute proper rotation of products.
10. Work as a "team" member to assure constant and consistent quality, service, cleanliness and value to each customer.
11. Wash counters, tables, trash receptacles, gather trash and remove from dining/service areas to proper receptacle, sweep, mop, stock and other cleaning tasks.
12. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in the Pub when needed.
13. Present menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding menu and beverage items.
14. Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar and dining area including tables, counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
15. Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues to supervisor.
16. Inform immediate supervisor promptly of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Qualified candidates must have excellent customer service skills including strong verbal communication skills, exhibit good manners, proper personal hygiene, positive attitude, and promptness.
2. Must have a working knowledge of good nutrition and healthy food.
3. Must be able to perform under pressure including moving and responding quickly for long periods of time.
4. Must be able to move and respond quickly to various requests and commands, and communicate clearly and effectively with customers and co-workers.
5. Have working knowledge of legal requirements for serving food alcohol.
6. Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a Point of Sale system.
7. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
8. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 75 pounds.
RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY: - Decision making is limited to specific responsibilities as assigned by Food and Beverage Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma/GED
- Food service experience
- Must either have or obtain ServeSafe II Certification.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Operates and maintains equipment according to facility policies and manufacturer's specifications:
- Oven
- Toaster
- Ice Machine
- Garbage Disposal
- Microwave
- Blender
- Coffee Maker
- Meat Slicer
- Merry Chef Oven
- Convection Oven
SPECIFICATIONS - MENTAL/PHYSICAL: - Performs tasks in confined setting for entire shift.
- Heat, air conditioning, and humidity are controlled by the facilities central system with variations in temperature on either side of the normal 72 degrees.
- Exposure to 0 degree temperature in freezer.
- Exposure to 35 degree temperature in cooler.
- Exposure to constant stress of working with sick residents and their families.
- Exposure to residents who are confused, irrational, demanding, and agitated.
- Lifts routinely, objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Stands and walks on hard surface entire shift.
- Bends, stoops, and turns often.
- Exerts considerable force in pulling and pushing daily.
- Hearing ability must be sharp to understand residents and their needs.
- Visual Ability must be sharp to read recipes and spread sheets.
- Ability to think clearly and react calmly during emergency situations, and assist with possible evacuation of residents.
RELATIONS WITH OTHERS: - Maintains cordial relations with the public, staff, residents and their families.
- Communicates clearly and maintains a cooperative spirit with staff.
LEARNING PERIOD REQUIRED: - Ninety (90) day probationary period.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - Indoors: works in well lighted and ventilated areas. Subject to possible falls, odors and injuries from equipment. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, chemicals and various viruses, including Hepatitis B and AIDS.
- Outdoors: possible exposure to weather extremes.
