Join the SFCASA Board of Directors and Make a Difference in the Lives of San Francisco Youth
Accompanying and advocating for the most vulnerable children in our community can only happen with the Board of Directors of San Francisco CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
At SFCASA, our mission is to transform the lives of children and youth traumatized and displaced in the foster care and related systems. Over 600 children are currently in the city’s foster care system, where they often stay in multiple homes, attend on average 9 different schools and work with 7 different social workers. With a CASA a child is more likely to succeed in school and beyond and even to find a safe, permanent home. We do this by providing each child with one consistent, caring volunteer advocate, trained to address their unique needs in the court and community, as well as additional services and advocacy. We strive to ensure that every young person involved in the system has what they need for healthy development and a smooth transition to adulthood. The Board oversees this important mission, working closely with the organization’s staff to help city youth.
Why Join Us?
As a board member, you will contribute to the critical work of helping San Francisco’s most vulnerable youth build brighter futures. You’ll join a team of compassionate, skilled professionals committed to collaboration, personal growth, and meaningful impact. Together, we aim to realize our strategic vision of ensuring all youth feel supported and equipped to thrive.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome individuals who are passionate about advocating for youth and aligned with SFCASA’s core values of cultural humility, community, and equity. Ideal candidates bring passion for helping youth, curiosity, diverse perspectives, in some cases lived experiences, and expertise in areas such as HR, DEIBJ, education, healthcare, social services, finance, marketing, law, or juvenile justice. Our goal is to build a board deeply invested in the issues and that reflects the vibrant diversity of San Francisco and the children we serve. It is not necessary that you have deep knowledge of the foster care system; rather, a passion to understand and help.
How You Can Contribute
Board members contribute to SFCASA’s mission in ways that best suit their strengths and resources and come from a wide array of backgrounds. Whether it’s by recruiting CASA volunteers, connecting us with pro bono services, offering professional expertise, or providing financial support, each contribution is valued and impactful. We embrace a flexible approach, welcoming a variety of ways to drive our mission forward.
Join us in creating lasting change and helping youth in foster care find stability, support, and hope for the future.
