The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for assisting the General Manager with ALL aspect of operations and ensuring a positive customer experience, both personally and through staff/class interaction. Must have strong sales acumen and ability to sell gym memberships and personal training. The AGM follows up with leads, referrals, and conducts gym tours to secure new membership enrollments. The AGM teaches an average of 12-15 group adult and youth classes (fitness and martial arts classes) per week and covers classes for absent instructors as needed. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE TEACHING BOXING AND KICKBOXING CLASSES. The AGM address member issues, coach relations issues, oversee scheduling and timekeeping activities, and assists with the daily maintenance and cleaning of the facility. The AGM is responsible for the successful attainment of revenue goals pertaining to private training and supplements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staffing and Development
- Assist with the recruitment, hire, training and development of a strong team of coaches and potential leaders.
- Maintain a fully engaged and high performing Personal Training/MMA team that aligns with company values and goals
Club Administration
- Ensures Coaches are productive, that revenue and service goals are properly communicated and that the Club remains on-track to attain weekly and monthly financial goals in personal training, membership sales, retail sales, member retention, and new lead follow up.
- Conducts monthly and weekly meetings with Coaches to review performance and operations, as well as offer direction, motivation and guidance towards achieving personal and club goals.
- Handles member service matters, such as: providing tours of the Club, explaining services offered by the Fitness Department and signing members up for training agreements and appointments. Mediates member issues and complaints in a timely and effective manner, elevating issues when appropriate.
- Performs various administrative and housekeeping duties within assigned areas as needed, including daily maintenance of the gym floor and locker rooms.
- Alerts the GM of repairs and maintenance needs in the club. Conducts facility walk-throughs daily and tends to deficiencies and maintenance as needed.
Sell and Conduct Personal Training with Members
- Works the floor to assist members and encourages their involvement in personal training.
- Ensures accurate administration of client programs, supplement purchases, measurement tracking and workout programs. Arrives on time, prepared and attentive for training appointments.
- Assists in all revenue generating activities, including but not limited to: complimentary workouts, supplement booths, member fitness assessments, seminars, workshops, etc.
- Sells personal training sessions for self and other coaches. Executes an effective prospecting strategy, conducts guest tours, and assumes responsibility for completing sales through new lead communications the closing the deal with new memberships and personal training.
- Responsible for achieving monthly revenue objectives set forth by the Company with regards to private training and supplements.
- Reviews daily club sales performance and individual employee performance statistics with the GM and staff members to identify issues and clarify behaviors needed to achieve club sales goals.
- Administer company policies as they relate to the sales process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- MUST be qualified to teach a minimum of 4 different classes (fitness and martial arts) offered at the gym.
- Knowledge of Personal Training techniques from assessment to program design.
- Must be able to operate and do basic adjustment of Fitness equipment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to demonstrate and maintain a friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
- Understands and follows oral and written instructions. Communicates clearly and concisely.
- Possesses strong organizational skills. Understands basic record keeping practices and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must be able to teach 12-15 (fitness and/or martial arts) adult and youth classes per week.
- Substitute for absent coaches as needed.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of related experience.
- Experience in management/employee relations preferred.
- At minimum must be able to teach boxing/kickboxing group classes, and HIIT/Weightlifting group classes.
