Job Description
Position Overview: We're seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT team in a hybrid role supporting our enterprise infrastructure and clients across the DC metropolitan area. This position combines hands-on technical work with customer-facing responsibilities, requiring both strong technical aptitude and excellent communication skills.
Core Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 environment, including user management, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams
- Support and troubleshoot Windows domain infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS
- Manage and maintain VMware virtual infrastructure, including VM deployment, resource allocation, and backup operations
- Configure and maintain IIS web servers and SQL Server databases
- Perform on-site technical support at customer locations throughout the DC metro area
- Respond to and resolve technical support tickets in a timely manner
- Document technical procedures and maintain system documentation
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in IT-related field or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Windows Server administration
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 administration
- Working knowledge of VMware vSphere
- Understanding of IIS web server configuration and maintenance
- Basic SQL Server administration skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits
- Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Microsoft certifications (Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate)
- VMware certifications (VCP-DCV)
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and systems
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment
- May require working in server rooms or data centers
- Travel required to customer sites throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia area (25-30% of time)
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work arrangement with minimum 2-3 days per week in office or on customer site
