Job Details

• MedSurg 5 South (Hem/Onc) position at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
• Unit: 5 South hematology oncology.
• Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 up to 1:6, adjusted for higher acuity patients.
• Experience in level 1 trauma and larger facilities with high acuity patients is required.

Job Requirements

• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred for charge RNs.
• Experience with hem/onc and chemotherapy preferred.

Schedule Information

• 12-hour shifts, either 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
• Travelers are expected to fill scheduling gaps, but block scheduling may be accommodated.
• Weekend requirement is every other or 2 weekends per month, with potential for more based on department needs.
• Holiday rotation with regular staff.

Unit Specific Information

• Charge nurse may take a light patient assignment but can take a full load if needed.
• All staff float between all MedSurg units based on skillset.

Additional Details

• 50-mile radius rule for candidates.
• Fingerprint requirement: Remote process must allow 10 days; in-person can be done at Jackson or Grenada campus the week prior to start.
• Flu vaccine is required at UMMC, with only medical exemptions allowed.
