The Team

As a member of the Fidelity Insurance Group (FIG) leadership team, the Insurance Technology Lead is responsible for the overall digitization effort of FIG, a Fidelity business unit that includes both Fidelity s direct insurance writer (Fidelity Investments Life Insurance - FILI) and Fidelity s newly established Bermuda based reinsurer (SoteriaRe). You will be responsible for shaping the technological direction of FIG, driving industry-leading innovation and scalability to deliver a frictionless customer experience, and ensuring technology solutions support employees in contributing to the overall success of the business.

The Role

Based in Boston, you are a key member of the FIG leadership team.\u00A0 You will work closely with the leadership team of FIG, FIG s annuity distribution partner (Fidelity Insurance Agency - FIA) and technology teams across Fidelity to develop a fully digitized insurance experience for annuity sales, underwriting, distribution, recordkeeping, and administration platforms to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Technology strategy
    • Create vision and strategy for industry-leading digital term and annuity customer experience aligned with Fidelity s and FIG s business goals
    • Lead the implementation of technology vision and strategy by defining the technology roadmap and architecture while ensuring the scalability, resilience and security of technology systems
    • Manage strategic vendor and technology partner relationships leveraging efficient platform design with API connections across a variety of data providers
  • Technology infrastructure
    • Collaborate with FIA and Fidelity Wealth & Brokerage groups to design, implement and maintain technology for FILI issued annuities and FILI digital term products
    • Build digital end-to-end capabilities for FIG, including underwriting, distribution, service and administration while balancing immediate and long-term needs
    • Lead the design, development, test/validation, support and maintenance of software applications
    • Drive integration of FIG s platform with Fidelity s broader technology infrastructure
    • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources
  • Innovation
    • Collaborate with FIA to drive industry leading digitization of the insurance and annuity customer experience, including sales and service of FILI issued annuities and life products
    • Drive research & development initiatives to explore new technologies and innovative techniques to digitize annuity and risk assessment processes
    • Stay informed about technological trends, advancements and shifting consumer needs/expectations
  • Team Leadership, Communication, and Collaboration
    • Build and lead a high-performing technology team of engineers, IT, and cyber security professionals to execute technical solutions from launch to scale
    • Collaborate closely with other technology leaders across Fidelity and influence technology resources outside of FIG to develop high impact technology and digital solutions for our customers and policy owners
    • Hold organization accountable for evaluation, development and deployment of technology roadmap within set deadlines and budgets
    • Foster a culture of digital innovation, growth and collaboration within the technology team, encouraging the development and implementation of new ideas and technologies
    • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into business terms
    • Provide regular updates to the executive team and Board on technology initiatives and their impact on the business

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

We are seeking candidates who have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a related field, Master s degree is preferred
  • 15+ years of experience leading, influencing, and building high-performance technology teams to develop cloud-enabled platforms
  • Proven record of accomplishment in driving digital transformation initiatives
  • Strategic leader looking for ways to deliver best-in-class customer experience, optimize development processes, and increase efficiency
  • Ability to work across business and IT domains to help organization realize its business goals
  • Extensive track record developing and executing technology strategies to meet shifting consumer needs and expectations

The following qualifications are preferable:

  • Previous experience as a Technology Executive in the Insurance or Financial Services Industries
  • Prior experience with leading the development of digitized insurance solutions, e.g., e-signature, e-Delivery, client planning, digital account opening and account maintenance
  • History of driving data infrastructure modernization, including integration with data lakes like Snowflake
  • Familiarity with insurance tech solutions such as AnnuityNet Ebix, Annuity Recordkeeping (ARK), Oracle Insurance Platform Administration (OIPA) \u00A0
  • Background in Agile and Scrum practices including a growth mind-set along with the ability to create buy-in and transparency within a team
  • History of leveraging platforms with API capabilities, intelligent automation and machine learning\u00A0
